Solar PV is one of the booming technologies in the sustainability energy sector, considering its adoption benefits in sustaining environmental stability and reducing traditional natural resources dependency. Issues such as energy wastage, raw material depletion, uncontrolled CO2 emissions, and a low solar PV adoption rate, as well as difficulties in comprehending customer decision-making, led to the conduct of this research. This study aims to fill the knowledge gap by considering integrating four holistic theories to explore the determinants of solar PV retrofit intention among Malaysian households through the perspective of the Motivation-Opportunity-Ability model. The establishment of the "Motivation" domain is represented by the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB). "Opportunity" domain is signified by the Diffusion of Innovation theory (DOI). "Ability" domain is signified by the Theory of Consumption Value (TCV). Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) was used to extend the TPB. The basis of this research is quantitative research conducted using an online survey, resulting in 337 reliable samples from Malaysian households, from 382 responses collected (≈20% from each of the five Malaysian regions). The analysis was preceded by the utilization of the SmartPLS 4.0 application, considering the PLS-SEM method as the central methodology to develop and investigate the MOA theoretical model. Thus, the findings established that TPB factors such as attitude, DOI factors such as compatibility and observability, and TCV factors such as social value and emotional value influenced the solar PV retrofit intention among Malaysian households. UTAUT factors such as performance expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions did affect attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioural control of user's solar PV retrofit intention, respectively. On the other hand, the non-supported determinants towards each of their respective constructs consist of the subjective norm, perceived behavioural control, effort expectancy, functional value, environmental value, relative advantage, and complexity. The results are implications from the theoretical outlook, covering the integration of four holistic theories, UTAUT model extension, SI and SN difference, and value-action gap foundation. In the fourfold practicality, 1) the campaign promotions and policy strategies influenced policymakers, lead government and SDG contribution; 2) corporations influenced by financing abilities, product education, CSR driven and global competitiveness; 3) SME influenced by customers education, market identification, economic development and sustainability; 4) households influenced by condition comprehension, standard of living, community engagement and financial security.
