The increasing demand for sustainable and efficient energy storage solutions necessitates the development of advanced electrolytes with enhanced safety and performance. This research focuses on synthesizing and characterizing guar gum-based gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) doped with sodium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (NaTFSI) and incorporating 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([Bmim]Cl) as a solvent. Utilizing the solution casting method, GPEs were prepared with varying NaTFSI compositions, followed by structural and thermal analyses using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) was employed to evaluate ionic conductivity and its temperature dependence. The results reveal that NaTFSI doping enhances the ionic conductivity of the GPEs, achieving a peak value at an optimal composition before declining due to ion aggregation and reduced mobility. FTIR analysis confirms significant interactions between Na+ ions and the polymer matrix, while DSC highlights the relationship between glass transition temperature (Tg) and polymer flexibility. The findings demonstrate the importance of balancing ionic concentration, polymer flexibility, and ion mobility to optimize conductivity. This research underscores the potential of guar gum-based GPEs as eco-friendly, high-performance electrolytes for next-generation energy storage devices.
