Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) is a controlled metal-removal process that is used to remove metal by means of electrical spark erosion. The objective of this thesis project is to determine the effects of injection flushing on the angle taper of a workpiece. One or the most important factors in a successful EDM operation is the removal of the particles from the working gap. Flushing these particles out of the gap between the workpiece and the electrode are very important to prevent them from forming bridges that cause short circuits. Secondary discharge can occur easily on the hole’s side wall workpiece when using injection flushing. The secondary discharge will cause the hole taper because of small diameter hole and depth of machining. This study develops the EDM injection flushing on the hole taper of high speed steel M35. The parameters of the EDM machine are constant while the pressure flushing is varying from 0.03 MPa to 0.15 MPa. The most important is to eliminate the taper causes by the injection flushing. Copper was used as electrode to machine the high speed steel M35, which is widely used as cutting tools in industry. The dielectric fluid was kerosene. The effects of hole taper by using injection flushing was analyzed and discussed. There is a taper occurs at high pressure, medium pressure and low pressure. The most effective pressure to find the 0° of angle is between 0.06 MPa to 0.08 MPa which is at medium pressure. The effects of angle taper including the material of copper and high speed steel, depth of machining and also electrode wear.
