For a major arterial such as Federal Route 2, all sorts of traffic behavior will be useful for better management of the current and future traffic demand. As such, we proposed to conduct a license plate survey at the vicinity of KM 10 as to gain information for Origin Destination (O-D) matrix. From the O-D matrix we can gain information related the traffic use such as where people go and which road they are using. The scope of study area consists of three different places that to be observed that is at the intersection of Federal Route 2 (Jalan Kuantan - Gambang) and Federal Route 3 (Jalan Kuantan - Pekan). This study area is selected because the intersection is currently via a series of ingress and egress with u-turn at both ends. During the peak hour the traffic became too dense and slowing the traffic flow. This also can drag them to accident. Solution is needs to increase the traffic flow and the safety level at this road. For the methodology, data are collected using License Plate Survey method and Traffic Counting method. The data is then processed to obtain O-D trip matrix. Actual O-D trip matrix that is from License Plate Survey method should be over the number of the theoretical O-D matrix that is from Traffic Counting method at anytime. From actual O-D matrix data, analysis is made and suitable solution is made that is to widen the road or the driver should using alternative road to reach their destination. -Author
