Tasik Chini is one of the popular natural lakes in Malaysia. But now, Tasik Chini is no longer popular because of its beauty but the water pollution caused by human activities. This study will classify the status of water quality at Tasik Chini according to Interim National Water Quality Standard for Malaysia (Class II B, Recreational Use with Body Contact). Six points are chosen for conducting the test which are PLKN campsite, Tanjung Puput, Chendahan, palm oil estate, jetty and dam. The data was collected for the month of August and September 2007. The result shows that PLKN campsite and Tanjung Puput is the most polluted area due to poor sewage system, meanwhile palm oil estate is because of the use of fertilizer. Thus, proper sewage system and reduction of the use of fertilizer must be done to save Tasik Chini. Education to the aborigines is also essential to give awareness and education to reduce pollution at Tasik Chini. -Author
