The aim's of this research are to determine the existence of heavy metals and its concentration in the ex-mining site area in Sg Lembing The study is to analyse the extent of heavy metals especially from ex-mining site down to confluent of Sg Kuantan / Sg. Kenau. In this research, a few samples are taken from the point source location which is at the vicinity of ex-mining area and the nearby river. The processing method used to determine the heavy metals in this research is DR2500 Spectrophotometer. Each heavy metal has different procedures that need to be followed. The concentration unit measure in this research is milligram/liter. After the experiment, the process is continued with comparative studies using the standard table of minimum concentration of heavy metals that can be consumed by human. Finally, there are results that claimed the existence of arsenic, aluminum, chromium, zinc, cadmium, lead, nickel and nitrate. More over, each sample point showed the presence of 8 heavy metals above. Therefore, there is a possibility that the extent of heavy metals reached to Sg. Kobat at downstream area. Comparative studies also have been made to analyse the extent of heavy metals in the vicinity of Sg. Lembing. The study is referred to the standard table of Inorganic Chemicals of Health Significance that published by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Malaysia guidelines. Recommendation such as cleaning and improved the area of ex-mining is also suggested to reduce and control the extent of heavy metals in the area of Sg. Lembing. -Author
