Wastewater pollution is a main problem throughout the world. The environmental issue that is related to the palm oil mill effluent (POME) has cause our human health danger. The POME is the wastewater that generated by processing palm oil, which has various dissolved and suspended pollutants. The POME consists of high concentration of nitrogen, phosphorus, and other nutrient contents. The world also facing the flood of solid waste. Even with solutions, such as landfill, incinerators, etc., but these will harm our environment. For example, the cost of the waste incinerator is expensive and will release greenhouse gaseous which will cause air pollution and ash disposal. This study evaluated the mixture of solid waste from coconut waste, palm acid oil, water lettuce and oil grass as animal food of goats. The objectives of this research is to investigate the growth performance of the goats by using the ration of formulation that made by the mixture of solid waste. Besides, this research is also focus on investigate the total solid waste that will be used in the formulation. There will be 4 parameters for the growth performance which are body weight, feed refuse, feed intake of each goat and one-way ANOVA analysis. In experiment, the formulation is prepared by referring to the handbook of Veterinary Department Malaysia. Afterwards, the nutrient of each material is analysis. Next, 4 (Boer x Local) Boer crossbred goats are used and divided into four groups (A, B, C and Control) with different formulation of feeds. The control was fed for oil grass at 3 kg. Meanwhile, the group A, B, and C was fed for oil grass with the fix amount of palm acid oil (PAO) and water lettuce which is 0.25 kg but different amount of coconut waste which is 0.75 kg, 1.0 kg and 1.25 kg. They are feed regularly at the morning and evening. The daily body weight gained of the goats are recorded after they intake their meal. At last, the result of the goat consuming normal ration and the goat consuming the special ration is compared and the graph of the growth performance is drawn. Based on these 120 days long feeding study, high levels of coconut waste did not have detrimental effects on the food intake, body weight gain and growth performance of the goats. Thus, suggesting that coconut waste and palm acid oil as supplement is a viable replacement for unique feedstuff. As the conclusion, Group C goat intake more coconut waste which is 1.25kg or 42% give the best growth performance among of the other groups.
