Summary, etc. Shrimps are multi-organ organisms, with the gut being one of the organs that are essential for their growth and development. The varied microbial population in the shrimp gut plays a crucial role since it is required for the digestion and absorption of nutrients. Stocking density is one of the many variables that may have an impact on the makeup of the microbial communities in the gut. This study aims to characterize the effects of varying stocking densities—10, 15, and 20 shrimp per tank—on the gut microbiome of shrimp. DNA was extracted from the shrimp intestines, followed by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) amplification and 16S rRNA sequencing using Illumina technology to profile the microbial communities. Alpha diversity indices were calculated to assess microbial variation across the different stocking densities. The alpha diversity indices allow us to infer that phylum Firmicutes were the dominant phylum in Tanks 1 and 2, while phylum Proteobacteria predominated in Tanks 3, 4, 5, and 6. Despite the differences in microbial composition, phylum Proteobacteria was present in all six tanks, indicating its widespread presence in the shrimp gut. Statistical analysis (p<0.05) showed that stocking density significantly impacted the microbial composition, influencing factors such as shrimp survival rates. This suggests that stocking density not only affects microbial diversity but also plays a role in shrimp health and survival. The study emphasizes the importance of optimizing stocking density to maintain a healthy microbial environment in shrimp aquaculture. By identifying the relationship between stocking density, microbial communities, and survival rates, the research provides valuable insights for improving aquaculture practices. The primary objective of this study—to determine the microbial communities in the shrimp gut at different stocking densities and their relationship with other factors—was successfully achieved, offering a foundation for more sustainable and effective shrimp farming practices.
