Water pollution refers to the contamination of water bodies such as rivers, lakes, oceans, and groundwater, primarily due to human activities. One of the rivers in Kuantan which is Balok River not excluded from the water pollution. Numerous human activities, including farming, factory waste, trash, and many more, are the source of pollution. This study's objectives were to assess the Balok River's water quality, classify it in accordance with Malaysia's National Water Quality Standard (NWQS), and compute the Water Quality Index (WQI). In November 2024, two-point water samples were taken from two distinct sampling locations in order to meet the goals. Physical, chemical, and biological parameters were examined using the conventional techniques. According to the findings, the downstream Balok River is categorized as class III for point 1 and class IV for point 2. According to the study, the industrial area's sampling point is more polluted than the others. The pollution of river water decreases the amount of dissolved oxygen and disturbs the life of aquatic creatures cause of the low amount of oxygen. According to this study, water pollution can have an impact on all living things' health. Everyone should support the government's and everyone's immediate action to reduce water pollution at the Balok River. |
