The sustainable use of pesticides is one of the main objective aimed at limiting the risks caused by the use of pesticides on environment and health. Plant extracts offer significant advantages in terms of sustainable agriculture and represent a feasible alternative against infestant weeds and pests for disease control of crops. Garlic (Allium sativum L.) is known for its stimulating properties on plant growth and also protects plants due to its bactericidal and fungi-cidal activity. Phyto-pesticides are substances derived from plants and contain bioactive compounds with pesticide properties. Pesticides are less harmful than chemical pesticides because they are environmentally friendly and safe for living things. However, pesticides are less effective than other pesticides. Therefore, this research is to study the effect of garlic-based methods with prebiotic enhancement on the effectiveness of chemical-free, prebiotic-infused phyto-pesticide formulations and to verify the effectiveness of phyto-pesticide formulations through different garlic extract methods. The combination of garlic extract and prebiotics as chemical-free, prebiotic-infused phyto-pesticides was tested on 4 okra plants with different concentrations of garlic extract in the pesticide to see the effectiveness and benefits to the plants. The results of the study showed that the crushing and pressing method was the most effective method to prevent pests from damaging the treated plants because it had a high concentration, while the untreated okra plants were because of the maceration method which had a low concentration. The leaves were damaged by pests and became the reference for this experiment to show the effectiveness of the pesticide. |
