Summary, etc. Fuel containing sulphur (S) compounds emits toxic fumes that threaten the environment. As a result, global research into the process of providing fuel with low S-content has increased. Desulphurization has been conveniently incorporated into fuel processes throughout the year in order to remove the sulphur content in fuel. Hydrodesulfurization (HDS) is the most widely used method for desulphurizing fuel and model oil. However, HDS does not effectively eliminate heterocyclic S-compounds due to sterically hindered adsorption of these compounds on the catalyst surface, specifically dibenzothiophene (DBT). Because of its mild operating conditions, the extractive desulfurization (EDS) process is introduced as an alternative. EDS enables the selective extraction of S-components from fuel oils while preserving the chemical and physical properties of the other compounds. Ionic liquids (ILs) is an appealing method to the solvent used in EDS.In this research, the type of ILs used are Tetrabutylammonium Chloride:Polyethylene Glycol (TBAC:PEG).The objective of this research is to evaluate extractability of TBAC:PEG in removing sulphur compound (dibenzothiophene, DBT) in model oil with dodecane. For the standard sample, the model oil dodecane is mixed with dibenzothiophene (DBT) is analyze and a calibration curve is plotted. Then,a series of model oil with concentration 400,550 and 700 ppm were prepared. The research conducted under three parameters;volume ratio of ILs to model oil, compound concentration and the extraction time of sulphur.GC-FID were used to analyze the sulphur content in model oil.The data obtained is compared to calibration curve and the sulphur removal efficiency is calculated.
