Summary, etc. The total fatigue life cycle of aluminium alloys was investigated using finite element analysis. The effect of stress concentration factors on fatigue life was analyzed using pre-post MSC.Patran and MSC.Nastran for stress analysis whereas MSC.Fatigue was used for fatigue analysis. The aluminium alloys was selected for this project since it is typically used to make most of the mechanical components. Six different models with varies stress concentration factors were analyzed. The model used in this study is standard tensile specimens in accordance to the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials). The stress amplitude curve, S as a function of number of cycles to failure, N was plotted in order to compute the total life cycles of the models and endurance limit as well. Based on the results, it shows that the model with higher stress concentration factor, Kt have lower life cycles.
