Water supply is not a new issue nowadays. These issues are widely discussed in daily newspapers and TV but commonly the issues discussed are related to the urban area. Rural areas were neglected. In the rural are there are some place that still use well water as their main sources of water supply. But there are plenty of problem that this people faced regarding to the water quality of water well. So that, this study conducted in order to know the quality of the individual well water at the study area. The parameters considered are including Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Suspended Solids (SS), Turbidity, Temperature, pH, and Heavy Metals (Iron, Cooper, Plumbum). The study of water quality will be taken place in Kg. Simpai, Mukim Bebar, Pekan, Pahang Daml Makmur. In this area, every people use well water as water supply and daily usage. For this study, nine stations selected as the sampling point with nine times analysis prepared for each point. The result of analysis showed that the well water at the study area was below the acceptable value and do not safe to use for drinking purpose. The result shows that most of the parameters are recorded to be over than standard that have been use for comparison purpose. The parameters like COD, BOD, pH, and heavy metals (plumbum) record that all of the results from stations TI till T9 are over than the acceptable value. For turbidity, the result shows that only station TI, T2, T3, T7, and T9 are record the value below the acceptable value of the standards. For the heavy metal (iron), all of the stations recorded the results below the acceptable values except for the stations T5 and T8. Only one of the parameters recorded all the value is below the acceptable value for all stations which is parameters heavy metal (copper). As a conclusion, the water quality at kg. simpai is below the acceptable value and do not safe to use for drinking purpose. -Author |
