This project presents a research to analyze Non-Value added process at BI Technologies Corporation Sdn. Bhd in order to improve its layout for HM72A-10 Series (Flat Wire) model. In this case study, distance travelled, cross flow, backtracking and its flow time in present layout was studied. The detailed studies of the layout such as operation process chart, flow of material and activity relationship chart have been investigated. The new layout have been designed and compared with the present layout. In addition, two alternative layouts were developed and evaluated by using non-value added process, flow of time and material handling distance as a criterion. The improved layouts could reduce the excessive movement 60.19% to 67.65% and the selected layout can reduce distance from 236.6 meters to 78.9 meters. As a result, the systematic layout planning pattern theory (SLP) showed that new layout significantly decrease the distance of material flow, cross flow and backtracking from receiving process until packaging. |
