Nowadays most organizations benefit from the huge potentials of e-commerce in running their business. E-commerce usage in Libya is still in its infancy stages and there is a limited number of e-commerce usage for booking accommodation online. Libyan firms still suffer from many challenges that impede e-commerce adoption in hospitality business such as price of the internet, illiteracy rates, low income and culture. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between e-commerce usage and technological, environmental, organizational factors as well as to explore the mediating effect of technological turbulence on the relationship between e-commerce usage and business performance in Libyan hotels. The study discusses the problem associated with the lack of awareness about the effect of e-commerce usage on firms' performance by Libyan hotels, where these hotels are unable to predict and understand the impact of technological changes and external environment on their performance. Quantitative research approach with probability random sampling was selected to collect the data from top managers or hotel owners in Libya. This study collected 136 final usable questionnaire The study found that e-commerce increases Libyan hotels performance by 77.9% to extend beyond local customers and compete in the global market, and they need for more implementation to technological factors (compatibility, complexity, and relative advantages) as well as taking into consideration the important role of organizational factors (financial resources, and top management support). While environmental factors (regulatory support and pressure intensity) are found much related to increasing the usage of e-commerce and should be managed by Libyan hotels for the benefit of their business. It was also found that hotel rating as proxy of control variable firm size influence significantly towards business performance. The study recommended that Libyan hotels should increase the intention to usage e-commerce locally and globally, and control the technological turbulence because of its mediating effect on the relationship between e-commerce usage and business performance. |
