This final year project studied mainly about the potential of Aeration to enhance the waste water quality in waste stabilization pond. The objectives of this project is to determine the effectiveness of Aeration Zone in integrated Phytogreen system for upgrading waste stabilization pond (WSP), and also to investigate the Food-to-Microorganism, (F/M) in Aeration Zone for enhance the effluent quality of water stabilization pond (WSP). The selected water quality parameter for this study are temperature, pH, Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), Chemical oxygen demand (COD), Phosphorus, Nitrate, Ammoniacal Nitrogen, Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Dissolved oxygen and Oil and Grease. All of these parameter results were referred to Water and Wastewater Examination Standard (AWWA, APHA, WEF, 2005). The experiment will conducted in two methods which are In-situ and Ex-situ. In-situ method is done at the site that located in Taman Anggerik, Johor Bahru while Ex-situ method is done in the FKASA Environmental Laboratory, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP). Based on the result, Aeration Zone was able to reduce the BOD by 45.64%, COD by 3.85%, pH by 6.78%, Nitrate by 2.21%, Ammoniacal Nitrogen by 31.91%, Total Suspended Solid by 45.70%, oil and Grease by 18.38%, Temperature by 1.53%, Phosphorus by 15.02% and increased the DO by 26.35%. As these result obtained, it can be concluded that this research indicated the successfulness of the aeration zone in upgrading waste stabilization pond |
