Since BIM method become common in the construction industry during design and construction phases of construction, owner, operators and facility managers have not recognized the benefits of BIM can bring to them during the operational and maintenance phase. Facilities Management (FM) is becoming progressively vital issue in the operation and maintenance phase in Malaysian construction industry. Facilities Management in Malaysia is still uncommon amongst contractor. This research is mainly discusses about the efficiency of Building Information Modelling (BIM) application in Facilities Management. The aim of this research is to define the work flow for authoring 3D BIM architecture model, to describe the benefits of BIM application in FM industry. For this research only cover facilities management of architecture discipline. The methodology of this research is begin with literature review, 3D modelling and project parameter. In this research, the process flow for 3D model of the building is explain systematically with an aid figures. The finding whether BIM is well suited for facility management and can improve the operational and maintenance phase by give a solid information data source for the facility manager. |
