| Summary, etc. |
Trial-and-error approaches are costly, time wasting and disruptive. Poor husk inventory management in KBB Kuala Rompin related with limited husk storage area, poor process flow design during seasonal period, deficiency husk control management, unspecific procedures, machine breakdown are the important issues need to be highlight. This study is conducted at KBB Kuala Rompin. The objective of the study is to analyze the current performance, to propose improvement on the transportation system, husk inventory overflow problem, and waste of husk produced. Before the data process to the simulation purpose, the data are test by using individual distribution identification in Minitab software. After the distribution identification process, the data insert inside the parameter in Promodel Simulation software. Existing condition is run 30 replications to get the result. By changing different type of parameters in the simulation and analyze the best result. The methods used to analyze the various causes were Ishikawa diagram, Why’s and 5W1H. After knowing the causes, recommendation for future improvement could be used by BERNAS Kuala Rompin were ready to propose. By using the Promodel simulation software, one of the way to solve the husk inventory problem is to increase the husk warehouse to 150 MT. But this way did not perform the best results to solve the husk problem. The company have to prepare a budget and a space to build the husk warehouse. The best way to solve the problem is by scheduling two husk lorries per day. Initially one lorry come every day to carry the husk, the inventory level is 95.5293% of the total capacity. After improvement that is two lorry come every day to carry the husk, the inventory level decrease to 0.0793 % of the total capacity. It has improved 95.45% of the capacity level performance. It does not involve any investment and space. At the same time, it helps to stabilize the flow of production and decrease the risk of production breakdown. When the production is stabilize, the output become constant. The management can plan for a long term schedule between the buyer and the production. When the schedule is set, it is convenient to the buyer and the management. Therefore, the customer satisfaction also increase. |
