Present research studies the effect of Processed Spent Bleaching Earth (PSBE) on the foamed concrete strength and durability under sulphate environment as partial cement replacement. There are three mixtures of foamed concrete were prepared such as 0% of PSBE as control sample, 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% replacements of PSBE. All specimens were tested to determine the compressive strength and durability of foamed concrete. This study was focused to investigate the behaviour of foamed concrete immersed in Sodium sulphate solution and water for duration of 1 year while the observation of the specimens were taken every week. As compared to FC, the foamed concrete containing PSBE as cement replacements have higher compressive strength and the highest compressive strength achieved was foamed concrete with 40% of PSBE replacements. As compared to FC, the physical deterioration of PSBE decreased with increase in percentage cement replacements of PSBE. 40% of PSBE as cement replacements have the least physical deterioration as compared to others. As compared to FC, the mass change of the foamed concrete containing PSBE decrease as the percentage replacements increase and the least mass change in the specimens was 40% of PSBE. Results exhibit that PSBE mixture performed better concrete as it have more advantage and its multipurpose applications compared to control FC. |
