This process involves converting complex carbohydrates in EFBs to glucose using enzymes Cellic Ctec2 released during saccharification and then fermenting that glucose to ethanol using a microbial dry yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The parameter that being studying are A:Temperature (30 to 50°C), B:Agitation (100 to 300 RPM), C: Enzyme Loading (1.5-6 %w/w), D: Substrate loading (1 to 5 %w/v) and E:Yeast Concentration (1-10 %w/v). For methodology, the first stage will be to gather the raw material, empty fruit bunches (EFBs) supplied by Felda Lepar Hilir Palm oil Mill. The EFBs were then dried to remove any remaining moisture and achieve a constant weight. For the pre-treatment process, the raw materials are pretreated using chemical and hydrothermal method to make the cellulose and hemicellulose more accessible to enzymes. Set up experiment design table for experimental work by using Design Expert software for SSF process with different operating parameters. Lastly the analysis of sugar and ethanol concentration by using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). In conclusion, among all parameters, Parameter B (Agitation) influence the most on the concentration of bioethanol produce.
