Cellulose Nanocrystals (CNC) with improve thermal stability and dispersibility is crucial for the demanding processing of polymer in melt compounding by twin screw extruder. This study shows a mixed acid hydrolysis method to produce CNC with a goal suitable to be incorporated for the melt compounding method of nanocomposite fabrication. The use of phosphoric acid, H3PO4 because of its good thermal stability but high solvent use and hydrochloric acid, HCl is a reduction in the amount of acid content uses to avoid harmful environmental impact. This methodology has allowed for isolation CNC with higher thermal stability and dispersibility concerning the amount acid used, 1 g of CNC, as compared with single acid hydrolysis. The CNC produced using the combination of H3PO4 and HCl exhibits high thermal stability, dispersibility and rod-like shape morphology with length and width of (8.76 ± 3.02) nm, respectively. Moreover, this method consumed lesser amount of H3PO4 in comparison to the single acid hydrolysis method required for the same amount of CNC production.
