In construction industry, materials form a large part of the project cost and generally believed it will continue to rise in future because of unstable market and changing of technology. However, on many contracts material waste always results in reducing the profitability of parties that are involved as the cost become higher. Therefore a study was conducted to identify the causes of material wastage, methods of reducing and the range of waste for main materials used on site. The data is obtained using structured questionnaires, interviewing people who are involved in the project and based on some observations on site. An average index is used in the analyst the data for the purpose to get the results and conclusions. Based on this study, a few conclusions have been established. A few recommendation on how to minimized material wastage have also been suggested. The results including the main factors attribute to the waste, the recommendation for appropriate solutions to control and minimize the waste and the recent wastage rate for several materials. -Author
