Subject(s): Dissertation note: Project paper (Bachelor of Civil Engineering) -- Universiti Malaysia Pahang - 2009 Abstract: This research has been done to identify the factor of safety of the slope based on the rise of the water level of the slope and to make the comparison within each method to make sure which method is more suitable for the slope. As we all know, landslides that occurs around high area is the most dangerous things that worries people around their premises especially at the end of the year. This is because, rainy season will happens at this time around Malaysia. When this happened, the level of the water around the slope will rise slowly and it will weaken the structure of the soil as well. Identifying the factor of safety around the slope that is able to collapse need to be count or look after to prevent any landslide to occur. Value of factor of safety that is less than 1 can caused landslide or in other word is slope failure. With this, suitable method to identify factor of safety is required. This is because; each and every method that has been used will have different values in their factor of safety. Bishop method is the most efficient method compared to Ordinary and Janbu method. Other than that, this method gives constantly decrease value if the value of the water level is increase. As a conclusion, factor of safety and rise in water level in every slope is the most important thing to be identified. The factor of safety around that slope will be less than 1 because of the value of high water level around the soil will become one of the main causes landslide around slope area.
