Dissertation note: Project paper (Bachelor of Civil Engineering & Earth Resources) -- Universiti Malaysia Pahang - 2010 Abstract: In the construction industry, the ISO 9001 series standards have become liabilities of the organization to show the awareness to reduce the problem of quality management. However, the implementation of ISO 9001 series of standards in the construction industry is the issue related to the compatibility and effectiveness. The purposes of this study are to identify the requirements of ISO 9001 in the Malaysian construction industry, the major issues faced by companies during the application for ISO certification and the problems to maintain standard procedures. This survey was also conducted to find out how to solve this problem. A survey conducted through a questionnaire circulated among the company's construction industry. Methods used in this study involved literature review and survey respondents. Based on literature review, found that there were twenty three (23) main requirements to obtain ISO 9001 certification. Meanwhile, in implementing the ISO, the main issue is the scheme and ISO procedures are too complex and expensive fees. Meanwhile, to maintain the certification, the main problems encountered were not it is fully implemented after the ISO certification. Results show that the success of the implementation and maintenance of the ISO system will largely depend on certain factors within the organization itself. It is hoped that these findings can contribute to the further study and provide guidance for improving current practice through the ISO.
