Subject(s): Dissertation note: Project paper (Bachelor in Electrical Engineering (Electronics)) -- Universiti Malaysia Pahang - 2008 Summary: Numerous safety features have been built into cars for years, some for the safety of car's occupants only had and some for the safety of others. For the adaptive lighting system the system use to help driver sees road more widely. Standard headlights shine straight ahead, no matter what direction the car is moving. So, adaptive headlights on DAS system develop to avoid this problem with helping the driver view more accurately on the road. Adaptive headlights react to the steering of the car and automatically adjust to illuminate the road ahead. When the car turns right, the headlights angle to the right and vice versa. Stepper motor is used to control the headlights to desired position left/right. Steering will give analog input to microcontroller PIC 16F877A and programmed to move the headlights proportional to steering direction. ADC converter in the micro controller used to convert the analog input given by the steering. Lower lights will on if indicator at spring contacted to help driver to view on the road when moving upper road. These wil also move proportional to the steering. Another system in the DAS system is Blind Spot System. Blind spot, in the context of driving an automobile are the areas of the road that cannot be seen while looking forward or through either the rear-view or side mirrors. So, blind spot sensor system develop to help the driver by blinking the LED at the side mirror when there is any disturbance aside the car. Ultrasonic sensor used because the range that can be controlled so that the LED will not blink constantly. As the result of the overall system, these systems hopefully can assist driver to avoid any or minimize the possibility of accident during night or cause from blind spot view.
