Dissertation note: Project paper (Bachelor of Civil Engineering) -- Universiti Malaysia Pahang - 2007 Abstract: Soft clay deposits are available along the west coast and at some parts of the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Construction on soft clay often affect by stability and settlement problem. In order to build a safe structure or any civil engineering works in such site, engineer should take into account to consider the properties and characteristic of soil at site. Therefore this project is carried out to study the soil properties ofPekan soft clay. The purpose of this study is to obtain site investigation report of construction project located at Pekan and to analyze the basic properties of Pekan soft clay. In order to fulfill the objectives, analysis is being done based on three site investigation report that being collected. Data that being utilized are moisture content, Atterberg limit and soil particle distribution. Analysis being made by comparing all the data gathered and plotted it in graph. From the analysis, it is found that the moisture content is decreasing by depth. However, the plastic limit and liquid limit is found scattered and inconstant. The soil particle distribution is dominant by clay and silt at all site but the present of sand also dominant at certain level beneath the ground surface. From the analysis, it can be seen that the soil profile at the same site is slightly vary. All the result from the analysis can be used as future reference for design purpose. -Author
