Bisphenol A (BPA) is among the highest chemical produced worldwide with over six billion pounds produced annually. Due to the effect that it can bring to humans’ health, techniques to decrease the exposure of BPA have been studied and one of them is by adsorption. In this works, BPA-MIP powder was produced by polymerization process using trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TRIM) and Bisphenol A dimethacrylate (BADM) under suspension polymerization. Bisphenol A (BPA) imprinted polyethersulfone (PES) and polysulfone (PSf) flat sheet membrane were produced using phase inversion method and the membrane for each polymer produced was prepared to be bound with the BPA in aqueous solution. The BPA transport behavior was studied in membrane forms using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The use of MIP embedded flat sheet membrane increase the adsorption due to the larger amount of binding sites in the membrane, comparing to non-imprinted membrane. The BPA-MIP polyethersulfone (PES) membrane give higher binding amount of BPA which was 16.61 μmol/g compared to BPA-MIP polysulfone (PSf) membrane which was 10.23 μmol/g.
