Welding has being increasing use in the process and power industries. Because of its high reliability, all position capability, ease of low cost and productivity, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) has become a natural choice for welding. In this project electrochemical methods such as potentiodynamic polarization used to evaluate corrosion with the potentiodynamic polarization curve was determined for electrochemical measurement by using WonaTech Potentiostat. Most metal corrosion occurs via electrochemical reactions at the interface between the metal and electrolyte solution and therefore, since corrosion occurs via electrochemical reactions, electrochemical techniques are ideal for study of the corrosion process. This particular study has examined the corrosion that occurred in welded low carbon steels with sodium chloride (NaCl) solutions. The microscopic examination was conducted by using optical microscope. The result showed the welding parameters had affected on corrosion rate.
