Dissertation note: Project paper (Bachelor of Computer Science (Graphics & Multimedia Technology)) -- Universiti Malaysia Pahang - 2013 Abstract: Flood management system is a system that is designed to identify areas that are frequently affected by floods in the District of Kuantan. Using the system, the frequency of flood events will be analyzed based on data obtained from the Department of irrigation and drainage, according to 2 consecutive years from 2011-2012. The system is proposed as one of the potential solutions to monitor and analyze flood problems that happen around Kuantan due to instable drainage system and irrigation. Geographical Information System (GIS) is a method that can be used for capturing, storing, checking, manipulating, analyzing and displaying data in an area or space. Generally, GIS integrates graphical and non-graphical data into a single system that is easy to manage. In this project, the developed system provides functionalities such as data digitization, custom spatial query, and interactive interface. This paper describes the development of a new flood information system which will combine various flood information together that hopefully can improve flood management in Kuantan.
