Rapid and uncontrolled urbanization has indeed given a large contribution in producing that massive amount of runoff by providing less pervious area. The study area of this thesis is Department of Irrigation and Drainage headquarters four floor office building located at Jalan Sultan Salahuddin, Kuala Lumpur. The rainwater harvesting systems is designed based on local condition and rainfall intensity. This system includes the roof area which is rainfall catchment's area, channel for transmitting rainwater, underground storage tank and roof rainwater tank. Rainwater is collected by underground storage tank and then pumped into the roof rainwater tank before supplying for toilet flushing. This study area represents the efficiency and reliability of the systems in controlling the quantity of runoff for office building. In this study, the ability and effectiveness of the systems to reduce number of surface runoff produced by catchment's area were discussed by comparing the total volume of runoff created versus the water level changes in the underground storage tank. As a result, an efficiency of 53.6 % of the systems was gain. -Author
