Subject(s): Online resources: Dissertation note: Project Paper (Bachelors of Civil Engineering) -- Universiti Malaysia Pahang – 2016 Summary: The key reason for a successful project is to have an efficient, accurate and effective asset management. As we all know, asset management is the integration of processes within an organisation to maintain and develop the agreed services which support and improve the effectiveness of its primary activities. Other than that, the information about the asset will have to be manually inserted into the spread sheet as the database for the assets. This will lead to inaccuracy and inefficiency of asset management by human error. The time taken for managing the asset will also affect the progression of the project. Asset management in BIM is the linking of data in a BIM record model. The data for the assets must be complete in order to maximize the ability of BIM to track and maintain the assets. Moreover, by linking the data of the asset with model, the system can support the short-term and long term planning for the improvement of the building. The aim of this study is to explore the BIM model based approach in asset management for facility management (FM). Research method used in this study is by using the information about assets and link it with the 3D model of the building by using the shared parameter. The information used is the location, registration, owner, life expectancy and condition of the asset. This study is performed by using the revit software 2015. This will produce an effective, efficient and accurate data when performing the asset management. By using the BIM model approach, researchers believe that it will help the facility management department for better project coordination in the future.
