Dissertation note: Project paper (Bachelor of Computer Science (Computer Systems & Networking)) -- Universiti Malaysia Pahang - 2013 Abstract: In this growing technology century, all devices and computer are likely used electricity to power them. But electricity has been century wasted. This is due to lack of human awareness about the electricity waste. The wasting energy will bring a high cost of electricity bills. Other than that, it will bring to global warming in the earth. This project presents the development of software-system based to serve the need of Faculty of computer system and software engineering (FSKKP) lab in Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP). The system is design to save the power of the light in the FSKKP lab that already waste a lot of electricity due to human mistake that forgot to turn it off. The features of the system is include the button of on/off, view of the usage of the kWh, auto turn off if the kWh is already reach the maximum kWh that has been set, and login features. The system is implemented on Visual basic and will communicate with a hardware that contains a PIC that will control the lights on/off. The system is GUI which will bring to user friendly environment. The system will use the rapid application development RAD. This is because RAD is a fast process and easy to update the system. The project will bring an easy system that will help human to turn on/off lights by only using a computer that is centralized. This will bring to a new era off invention for human in the future.
