Subject(s): Online resources: Dissertation note: Project Paper (Bachelors of Civil Engineering) -- Universiti Malaysia Pahang – 2016 Scope and content: Presently, the use of pozzolanic admixture in concrete technology proved to be the most productive for the development of higher strength and durability of concrete. The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of different curing techniques on compressive strength of foamed concrete. Four mixtures of foamed concrete were design for density of 1600 kg/m3. Foamed concrete (FC) mix with 100% OPC was designed as basic control mix. Processed Spent Bleaching Earth Foamed Concrete mixes (PFC) were designed by partial replacement of cement with 10%, 20% and 30% of PSBE by weight of cement namely as PFC1, PFC2 and PFC 3 respectively. The foamed concrete cube specimen were using five technique such as room temperature(RC), water immerse (WI), site condition(SC), moist curing(MC) and compound curing(CS).The compressive strength developments due to different type curing for 7, 28, and 90 days were studied. Results obtained shows that 28 days compressive strength of foamed concrete cured under site condition was 73% of the compressive strength of cured in water immersion tank in the laboratory (27% less).Similarly compressive strength of foamed concrete curing compound was 93% of the compressive strength of cured in the laboratory(7% less). Hence, it has been concluded that in areas with shortage of water, curing compounds can be effectively used and leads to strength development and sustainability of water.
