Dissertation note: Project paper (Bachelor of Computer Science (Computer Systems & Networking)) -- Universiti Malaysia Pahang – 2016 Abstract: In this project, a study on the latest technologies that can be used to generate an automated system has been done. The aim was to create an automated student attendance system in order to solve the manual record problem system. Based on the study and investigation, as highlighted in the literature review, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is selected to be used in our proposed system. The RFID is an alternative technology with a potential that can replace the traditional manual and Universal Product Code (UPC) barcode. The RFID enable identification of an object from a distance without requiring in the line of sight. By using RFID technology, the proposed system will enable lecturer to automatically get and record the student attendance. The advantage of the proposed system is to avoid lecturers and students waste of time while getting students attendance. The system has been tested and show the ability to solve the manual registration problems.
