Subject(s): Dissertation note: Project Paper (Bachelors of Civil Engineering) -- Universiti Malaysia Pahang – 2017 Abstract: Architects and engineers often rely on drawings and models of their projects to aid in their work. However, 2D computer-aided design (CAD) models don't always provide these professionals with the speed and accuracy they need to complete projects or find solutions to challenges. 3D modeling has been used by architects around the world for many years to improve the efficiency and aesthetic of their designs. Building Information Modeling “BIM” is becoming a better known established collaboration process in the construction industry. Owners are increasingly requiring BIM services from construction managers, architects and engineering firms. With changes in technology, opportunities have been created for industries to become more efficient in the way work is done. 2D drawing has been a normal source of information and procedure since 1970's. On traditional 2D CAD projects, the information flow between the players and project stages is jumbled. Furthermore, the drawings are difficult to interpret. Errors and omissions in paper documents often cause unanticipated field costs, delays, and eventual lawsuits between the various parties in a project team. This study, therefore, aim to evaluate the benefits of BIM to cover and resolve the problems occurred during the conventional method in construction project. The objectives used to achieve the aim are by collect data building and model the 2D cad drawing of the project in 3D model by using REVIT software and compare the traditional conventional construction method with BIM implementation. By using this BIM model approach, researcher believe that it will helps construction project teams for better project coordination in the coming years.
