Subject(s): Dissertation note: Project Paper (Bachelors of Civil Engineering) -- Universiti Malaysia Pahang – 2019 Abstract: Slope instability causes landslides is a major geological hazard and a common risk to most regions. Among all categories of landslides, shallow slope failures which affect many hill slopes and earthwork projects are the most widespread and pose the most costly maintenance problem. One of the slope reinforcement methods that seem suitable for preventing shallow slope failures is the Live Pole technique. This research aims to determine the physical properties of root and its tensile strength to reinforce slope. The position of tree planting at slope was studied in two aspects which are (i) the soil properties and its behaviour and (ii) the relationship between root and slope stability. This study was undertaken at University Malaysia Pahang (UMP) at three different sites. Soil sample was taken from three site to study the behaviour of the soil. Soil sample was tested using several experiment which is Hydrometer Test, Sieve Analysis, Atterberg Limit Test, Specific Gravity Test, Standard Proctor Test and One Dimensional Consolidation Pull out test was conducted after 6 month Eugenia Oleina tree was planted on site location at different position. These findings improve our understanding on which position is the best way for tree planting as anchorage system for slope reinforcement.
