The well-being of a single-mother family is significantly influenced by their life skills, self-reliance, and social support. Those factors are also served as crucial indicators that might shape their future and, by extension, the well-being of society. This study investigated the life experiences of single mothers and the challenges they encounter. The underlying notions was, the inability of single-mothers to acquire and apply life skills, self-reliance, and social support may influence the society and the nation as a whole negatively. Hence, the focus of this study was on exploring the relationship between key realities faced by single mothers and the challenges they are confronting. Based on behavioral and social learning theory, this study postulates that environmental influences are crucial variables in shaping positive or negative behaviors within individuals and families. The study employed a qualitative research method with a case study design, the study involves a total of five participants as the primary sample. Three triangulation techniques are employed, utilizing three data collection methods: i) in-depth interviews; ii) observation checklists; and iii) document analysis. Data collected through these methods are input into NVIVO 12 software to assess construct validity and reliability. According to Meriam's (2009) recommendations, audit trail techniques, triangulation, long-term field observation, and participant collaboration were used to establish data reliability. Expert certification and the agreement value of the Cohen Kappa coefficient are used to determine the level of validity and reliability. The study results revealed several noteworthy findings: firstly, the life skill domain of single mothers is at a low level due to challenges in time management, physical health, and substantial family responsibilities. Secondly, the domain of self-reliance is similarly at a low level, as participants struggle to adapt, overcome, and confront impending challenges. Thirdly, the social support domain is also lacking, attributed to insufficient material, motivational, and emotional support from family, societal institutions, and NGOs. This study underscores that the three domains i.e., life skills, self-reliance, and social support of the single mothers observed in this study were not sufficient in shaping their well-being due to the identified obstacles. Keywords: Life skills, self-resilience, social support, single mothers, family well-being
