Recently, renewable vitality frameworks have been utilized to meet the expanding request for power and energy. Among these renewable energy systems, fuel cells appear to be getting additional consideration. This research examines the potential of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), with a specific focus on polybenzimidazole (PBI) membranes, to contribute to sustainable energy solutions. Fuel cells, especially PEMFCs, are emerging as promising options for clean and efficient energy conversion. Unlike traditional batteries, fuel cells generate electricity continuously through an electrochemical process as long as they have a fuel supply. This study explores the proton conductivity of PBI composite membranes incorporating nanofiber membrane and electrospinning methods, along with the ionic liquid 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate (EMIM Ac) and Sulfonated Poly(Ether Ether Ketone) (SPEEK) at various concentrations. The objective is to compare the mechanical properties and conductivity of PBI nanofiber. The next objective to measure the conductivity with different concentration of EMIM Ac. Conductivity is measured using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), while techniques like microscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) provide insights into the morphology and chemical composition. Contact angle, swelling, and thickness tests help understand the physical properties of the membranes. The results indicate that PBI with 10 layer of coated SPEEK have higher proton conductivity, attributed to their unique structure and enhanced proton mobility. Mechanical tests reveal that PBI with high layer of SPEEK exhibit increased strength The inclusion of (EMIM Ac) improves conductivity, with higher concentrations performing better. Contact angle measurements show that PBI are hydrophilic. TGA analysis reveals differences in thermal stability of PBI nanofibers. This through analysis offers valuable insights into the molecular, structural, mechanical, and thermal properties of PBI membranes, supporting their application in high-temperature PEMFCs and contributing to sustainable energy solutions.
