The PO-WCO was modified through transesterification to introduce hydroxyl groups into the triacylglyceride`s structure, by reacting the PO-WCO with methanol (1:3 volume ratio) and heated at 65 ÂșC for 2 hours, making it suitable for PUF production. The research examined the effect of varying isocyanate-to-polyol ratios on the mechanical and thermal properties of the resulting PUF. For characterization, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Acid Value (AV) and Hydroxyl Value (OHV) analysis were utilized to assess the polyols characteristics. For the PUF`s physicochemical properties, Density and water absorptivity study, gel content analysis, Compressive strength, Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) were used each PUF mechanical and thermal properties. The results indicate that higher isocyanate ratios reduced its curing time, enhance its compressive strength and thermal stability, while lower ratios improve flexibility and energy absorption but required longer time for curing. This work provides a sustainable approach for PO-WCO management and contributes to the development of eco-friendly polymers, reducing reliance on petroleum-based resources UR - https://umpir.ump.edu.my/id/eprint/46087 ER -
