CFD simulations have become a popular tool for studying various aspects of vented dust explosions, including flame propagation. The combined effects of reversal flow and re-ignition, which are significant factors in the severity of these explosions, are examined. Reversal flow occurs when the hot gases from an initial explosion expand and then contract, creating a low- pressure region behind the explosion front. This reversal in flow direction can pull unburned dust and air back into the flame front, leading to a more intense and prolonged explosion. The reignition effect refers to the ignition of unburned fuel particles by hot gases from the initial explosion, resulting in a second, more powerful explosion. These effects are particularly pronounced when there is a high concentration of combustible dust. The CFD simulations carried out in this study involve modeling the geometry, defining physical and chemical characteristics, discretizing the system using a numerical grid, solving the governing equations, and analyzing the results. The simulation was used by a pressure-based solver. This study concludes that the effect of reversal flow and reignition was said to be interrelated. By gaining insights into the behavior of flame propagation in vented dust explosions, this research contributes to a better understanding of the process, enabling improved safety measures and more efficient system designs UR - https://umpir.ump.edu.my/id/eprint/46949 ER -
