The fabrication of La-doped ZnO nanoparticles at different calcination temperatures has been investigated for their potential application in improving the photodegradation of wastewater treatment. The incorporation of lanthanum (La) into ZnO nanoparticles can enhance their photocatalytic activity and extend their absorption range into the visible light region. This study aimed to understand the influence of reaction temperature on the structural, morphological, and optical properties of La-doped ZnO nanoparticles and their subsequent impact on wastewater treatment efficiency. The obtained nanoparticles were characterized using techniques such as Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy – Energy Dispersive X-ray (SEM- EDX), TGA and Ultra – Violet Visible Spectroscopy (UVVis). The photodegradation efficiency of the nanoparticles was evaluated by measuring the degradation of a model organic pollutant under visible light irridation. Furthermore, the photocatalytic performance of the La-doped ZnO nanoparticles demonstrated a strong dependence on the reaction temperature. It was found that nanoparticles calcinated at a specific temperature exhibited enhanced photodegradation efficiency compared to those calcinated at other temperatures. This can be attributed to the optimized structural and morphological characteristics of the nanoparticles, such as increased surface area, improved charge carrier separation, and enhanced light absorption within the visible spectrum. In conclusion, the reaction temperature plays a crucial role in the fabrication of La-doped ZnO nanoparticles for improving the photodegradation of wastewater treatment. Controlling the reaction temperature allows the synthesis of nanoparticles with desired structural and morphological properties, leading to enhanced photocatalytic activity. This knowledge can be utilized to design and optimize the synthesis process of La- doped ZnO nanoparticles for efficient and sustainable wastewater treatment applications.
