Varying temperature simulations were performed to analyze the performance metrics, containing methane conversion, hydrogen yield, and syngas ratio, using the Aspen Plus model. The economic assessment included both CAPEX (capital expenditure) and OPEX (operational expenditure). These results indicate that among the methods considered, SMR proves to be the most techno-economically efficient, although it requires higher financial investments (with the highest hydrogen yield/syngas). On the other hand, due to a certain amount of compromise in performance, MC was able to prove as more cost-efficient with significantly lower CAPEX and OPEX as compared to other iterations. DRM and POM appeared as middle-ground solutions that catered to distinct operational needs and budgets by striking a balance between performance and economic considerations. This assessment provides important direction for policymakers and industry participants in choosing hydrogen generation pathways that harmonize sustainability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. In the future, research should focus on optimizing these technologies to improve efficiency, increase hydrogen output and further cut costs. Moreover, aligning with the increasing international demand for clean energy solutions, should strive to improve both the economic as well as environmental sustainability of these strategies UR - https://umpir.ump.edu.my/id/eprint/47498 ER -
