The researchers synthesize zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO Nps) from pineapple waste extract and infuse them into corn starch to create a sustainable biopolymer. Bioplastics are known for their biodegradability, nontoxicity, and structural flexibility, making them ideal for food packaging applications. However, they face challenges in barrier efficacy and mechanical qualities. The pineapple waste is used to produce ZnO Nps. The nanoparticles are mixed with corn starch to form biofilms, which are tested for physical and mechanical parameters. The results show that infusing ZnO Nps into corn starch significantly improves mechanical characteristics and delivers robust antibacterial activity. This study highlights the potential of bioplastics, particularly those from agricultural waste, in producing sustainable packaging solutions and reducing plastic pollution ER -
