Despite its promising characteristics, the large-scale production of graphene remains a challenge due to limitations in current synthesis methods. This study explores the synthesis of graphene from graphite flakes using a novel bubble exfoliation technique aided by liquid-phase exfoliation in ethanol. This method leverages cavitation bubbles generated through ultrasonication to facilitate the separation of graphene layers, offering a scalable and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional methods. The research focuses on optimizing the synthesis parameters, specifically the sonication time and the solvent-to-graphite ratio, to enhance the yield and quality of the produced graphene sheets. In this work, a significant amount of graphene was synthesized in a short time with a fixed frequency and temperature of the sonication. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV–Vis) techniques validated the oxidation effect of the synthesis process on graphene, which is in line with the addition of functional groups to it. Besides, XRD characterizations showed that graphene mainly consists of a thin few-layer structure. Furthermore, FTIR and Uv-Vis revealed that the functional group that exists in the synthesized graphene are primarily hydroxyl groups. Thus, this research aims to contribute to the understanding and optimization of bubble exfoliation as a scalable and environmentally friendly method for graphene production. By overcoming the limitations of current exfoliation techniques, this study seeks to advance the practical applications of graphene in various industries and support its anticipated market growth UR - https://umpir.ump.edu.my/id/eprint/47587 ER -
