This study focused on the development of Zn-MOF by using solvothermal method for carbon dioxide (CO₂) capture. The issue of increasing carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels due to industrial activities and fossil fuel usage, encourage us to develop efficient material like Zn-MOF to capture and reduce emmisions, offering a potential solution to mitigate these environmental impact. The objective of this research is to develop an adsorbent by using solvothermal method, and the resulting material was subjected to a series of analyses to determine its physical and chemical properties. Next, these analyses include characterize of solid adsorbent by using method Fourier- transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). Lastly, the evaluation of the effect of pressure on CO₂ adsorption Zn-MOF was synthesis by using solvothermal method, where Zn and organic linker was dissolved into the solvent mixture. The material was dried and characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and Brunauer- Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis to its surface properties. Then, CO₂ adsorption test also was conducted under varying pressure to evaluate its capture efficiency. By using solvothermal method, the result show Zn-MOF was successfully produced with high porosity and crystallinity, making them suitable for CO₂ adsorption. From the result of CO₂ adsorption that focusing on the effect of pressure, it indicate the amount of CO2 adsorption increased as the pressure increased. In conclusion, Zn-MOF synthesis by using solvothermal method is one of the promising alternative to replace CO₂ absorption using Monoethanolamine (MEA) process in order to reduce increasing of carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels. Future work should focus on using solid organic amine with Zn-MOF to improve CO₂ efficiency. Additionally, further studies on the material's long-term stability and performance in real-world CO₂ capture scenarios are recommended to confirm its commercial viability.
