This technique however faces difficult challenges like optimizing the placement of injection and production wells as inefficient well placement can impact the oil production and affecting the oil fieldโ€™s economic viability. The interplay between different well placement patterns affect fluid flow within the reservoir, impacting both the oil recovery rate and net present value of waterflood. This paper aims to study the effect of waterflooding by the optimization of injector and producer well placement in reservoir. The simulation process started by inputting the data of black oil model into the simulator. The three key parameters of this research were well placements (5-spot, 7-spot and direct vertical line), injection timing (year 2051), wettability condition (water-wet). The simulation will be run individually with each parameter as each case until the results reach an optimization. A comparison will be done based on the obtained results to identify the optimized parameter. From the simulated result, total oil production and net present value will be analysed. Direct Line pattern was the most optimized parameter where it gave highest value of total oil production (11.42 ๐‘š๐‘™๐‘› ๐‘ ๐‘š3). This was due to the direct lineโ€™s pattern arrangement, with more focused injection, it will control the waterflood front well. However, 5-spot pattern has the highest net present value (7.197%). The highest value of net present value indicates the favour in economic probability. 5-spot has the lowest total water injection, which lowers the operating costs, and it also has an excellent sweep efficiency. In conclusion, the results drawn a suggestion where direct line well pattern produces highest oil production which are the optimized parameters for oil recovery whereas 5-spot configuration likely to yield most favourable economic outcomes for waterflooding project UR - https://umpir.ump.edu.my/id/eprint/48089 ER -
