This process involves injecting water into a reservoir to maintain or increase pressure, improve oil flow, and drive more oil toward production wells. However, the timing of water injection significantly impacts the efficiency of the waterflooding process, affecting both reservoir performance and economic viability. Improper injection timing can result in reduced oil recovery, increasing water production, and higher operational costs. For instance, delayed injection can lead to uneven water swept pattern, causing oil to remain trapped in less permeable regions, or water breakthrough in production wells, which diminishes overall recovery and increases operational complexities. Despite the recognized importance of injection timing, research focusing on optimizing this parameter remains limited. This study investigates the effect of injection timing on reservoir pressure, oil recovery and the financial feasibility of waterflooding. Numerical simulations using tNavigator were conducted to evaluate various injection scenarios, including early and delayed water injection strategies. Key parameter such as porosity, permeability, oil viscosity, water viscosity and injection rate were varied to assess their impact on reservoir performance. Economic analysis was performed, with focus on calculating the Net Present Value (NPV) for each scenario to evaluate the financial implications of different injection strategies. The results of this study provide valuable insights into the optimization of injection timing for maximizing oil recovery while minimizing operational costs. Proper optimization of water injection timing can improve the efficiency of waterflooding operations and contribute to more sustainable and economically viable petroleum production UR - https://umpir.ump.edu.my/id/eprint/48084 ER -
