Storm water is one of the concerned issues in a developed area. Flooding usually occurs in the area during heavy rainfall. This is because most of the area is covered by concrete and rain water can not infiltrate the concrete. In order to overcome the problem, engineers do researches and studies on the problems by using various methods. One of the methods is by building a laboratory model. Two main issues in the study of stormsewer are the quantity and quality. In this lab model, we will study on the quantity of water in the stormsewer. The purpose of this project is to build a laboratory model for storm sewer study. The model is scaled down from the actual size of the study area. It was built by using piping material, wood and sand. The basic of stormsewer models are rainfall, subcatchment area, inlet, conduit and outlet. Computation method in the lab is based on manning equation. Data obtained from the lab model are the pipe length, pipe diameter, discharge, and pipe roughness. The most important data is the experiment is the discharge and height of flow. The height of the flow, velocity of the flow, and the wetted perimeter of the conduit can be calculated based on discharge data,. The height computed are then compared to height of the flow that obtained from the lab model. The percentage error in conducting the lab test is within 10%. -Author
