Annual total production of the husk is 120 million tones. In the majority of rice producing countries, much of the husk produced from the processing of rice grains is either burnt or dumped as a waste. It must be noted that the rice husk ash (RHA) in the form of amorphous ash consists of very high silica content up to 90%. If the ash is well grinded into fmer particle size, both of these characteristics are responsible in classifying the RHA into the super-pozzolan family, as that of silica fume. Pozz01anas have the ability in enhancing the concrete properties such as its workability, compressive strength and durability. That is why this by-product is too precious to be waste of. This paper highlights a research program carried out by the author to investigate the silica content within the RHA and at the latter stage, studying the effect of RHA as partial cement replacement material on concrete compressive strength. Compressive strength results of the concrete show that there is increase in strength for concrete with 15% cement replacement with RHA. This shows that RHA has the potential to be commercialized and utilized as a construction material, which can simultaneously aid in reducing the husk disposal problem, globally-Author 0aReinforced concrete
