The main purposes of this project are to determine and compare the tensile and flexural strength of pure epoxy and natural fibres reinforced epoxy. The natural fibres used for this project were banana stem fibres and coconut coir fibres. The natural fibres were mixed with epoxy and hardener at 10% weight percentage of fibres content. The process employed to fabricate the specimens was hand lay up and the natural fibres was oriented at 90 degree which is parallel to the applied load. The dimensions of the specimens for tensile and flexural test were based on ASTM D638 and ASTM D790 respectively. The results obtained shown that pure epoxy achieved higher in both tensile and flexural strength in comparison with other natural fibres reinforced epoxy composites. 0aComposite materials 0aFibers 0aStrength of materials 0aEpoxy compounds
